Partner Spotlight: Betty Lou's Inc.

The 2017 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report by American Express OPEN showed that an estimated 11.6 million businesses in the U.S. are owned by women. These businesses employ nearly 9 million people and generate more than $1.7 trillion (yes, TRILLION) in revenue.

Over the past 20 years (since 1997), the number of women-owned businesses has grown 114%! This is compared the overall national growth rate of 44% for all businesses.

As a matter of fact, women-owned businesses now account for 39% of all U.S. firms… quickly approaching the halfway mark. Can we say #girlpower?! 💁👊

So today, we’re going showcase our partner Betty Lou’s Inc - and we are excited to share the story of the amazing Betty Lou Carrier- of the Betty Lou’s Inc snack company!

38 years ago, Ms. Betty Lou Carrier was a single mom in small town of McMinnville Oregon - where she struggled with getting her kids to enjoy eating healthy (like most moms!).

Frustrated with the lack of healthy snack options she could find at the store, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She started experimenting in her own kitchen, making snacks without refined sugar (using honey and brown rice syrup instead). Then she taste-tested them on her kids, the neighborhood kids, and friends of her sons - and sure enough, they were a hit! The kids loved it, and her dream was born.

Over the course of the next 30+ years, she would master her craft and build an empire - providing to be unstoppable. Since the beginning, she has never wavered on her mission to help people enjoy snacks that are made from clean, natural, healthy ingredients - and taste delicious, too!

Every product she has created is gluten-free, non-GMO, free of refined sugars, and made from only the best all natural ingredients - and they taste AH-MAZING!

Even though she is the owner and president of a multimillion dollar corporation, she remains down-to-earth, easy-going, loving, and giving. Her heart is as big as her dream, and she has done incredible things for her community: Betty Lou’s Inc. has been helping families across Oregon for 10 years. In 2014 alone, Betty Lou’s Inc. donated over 1 million bars to the Oregon Food Bank.
